Andrew Hudson

Head of Microbiology

Andrew is a microbiologist with over 30 years of experience in various aspects of the discipline, including classification, conversion of lignocellulose to ethanol, and biotransformation of fatty acids in the rumen. However, his main experience is in food microbiology.

His initial foray into food microbiology was at the Meat Industry Research Institute of New Zealand (MIRINZ) producing predictive models for the growth of Listeria monocytogenes, Aeromonas hydrophila and Yersinia enterocolitica. Later, he joined the Institute of Environmental Science and Research Ltd (ESR), also in New Zealand, where he became a science leader in the Food Safety Programme based in Christchurch.
