Water & Environment

The Fapas Water and Environmental Scheme assesses the performance of laboratories in water and environmental testing sectors

The scheme satisfies the UK Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) requirements for the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulation 2010: Regulation 16, Appendix 1 for both chemical and microbiological parameters. We can test within concentrated solutions, PBS suspensions, water and soil.

Water and Environmental Tests

Testing Areas

  • Drinking Water Chemistry
  • Microbiology
  • Parasitology
  • Chemical Contamination Emergency
  • Taste and Odour Chemical Identification
  • High Salinity Water
  • Legionella
  • Soil Chemistry
  • Waste Water Chemistry
  • Surface Water Chemistry

Contamination Exercises

Since its inception in 1997 Fapas has distributed hundreds of water rounds to 33 emergency contamination exercises. Results obtained and the lessons learned by participants have helped, and will continue to help, laboratories to produce clear analytical strategies for dealing with emergency sample incidents.

Bespoke Testing

If you feel we don't offer the test you need, please contact us to discuss bespoke tests for your individual needs.

Bespoke schemes allow customers a variety of ways of commissioning proficiency tests to their own specification, and many companies choose to include their laboratories in one of our ready scheduled tests. We have also organised closed schemes for a variety of laboratories commissioned by both government organisations and private industry.
